In situ validation kit

In order to ensure high quality traceable measurements, radiometers need to be calibrated or validated in regular intervals. Davos instruments provides a kit for in-situ validation of installed pyrheliometers. The validation kit consists of a WRR calibrated PMO6/PMO8 system, that can be leased on a monthly base and returned after the validation process. That way, the user will be able to validate the calibration of the radiometers on his own, without removing them from its location. This procedure has several advantages, compared to a recalibration at a calibration facility:

-The instrument to be validated can stay in its location.
-The complete data acquisition chain is validated (sensor, cables, data acquisition / voltmeters / data loggers)
-Multiple instruments can be validated simultaneously.
-Older cavity radiometers, that need hands-on operation can be operated by their trained staff in their standard environment.
-The calibration factor of the instrument does not need to change (if it is found to be within its limits), there is no need to change calibration factors in data evaluation routines.
-optional support with uncertainty analysis from Davos Instruments
